Still More Interactive Fiction

Long-time fans may remember Diamond Find, my massive text-based diamond-locating simulator. Even longer-time fans (basically just my family at this point) might remember that I once put out a book called Gray which is, I have to say, my worst, and thankfully out-of-print.

Long story short, I wrote a sequel to Gray using the Diamond Find engine!

I'd originally planned to fix Gray and release them both at once, but in the end it wasn't worth it. Anyway, The Calico Brief is finally ready to play. It's far better than Gray ever was, and you don't need to have read the book to understand what's going on. It's... probably better if you haven't.

November News

With the air cooling down outside, I've been prompted to think about what I'm going to be working on this winter, as it's often a good time to hunker down and get a big project done.

At some point I should dig into Snapback, Volume 3 if I want to stick to the yearly release schedule, but I also want a bit of time away from that world, so I'm looking at other things.

I've been chipping away at another interactive fiction project in the same vein as Diamond Find. It improves on the underlying BinaryWoods engine, but won't be quite as staggeringly ambitious in size. With a few good weekends and maybe a burst at Christmas, I can probably get it done before the new year. So far: it's good.

I'll also be working on the ScaleQuail project, in order to "scale up" the business and increase distribution of my current offerings. Keep an eye on that, and I'll be making noise around the holidays to remind you that they make great gifts.

Until then, let me know if you want to collaborate on anything.

FractalFic launched!

Yes, the waiting is finally over. Tired of not collaborating with others on pieces of writing? Maybe you've always wanted to make an interactive story, but never had much time to invest in learning a scripting language. Or you might just want to play some free games. Whatever the case, FractalFic is now live and satisfies all interactive fiction needs! Well, most, anyway. I'm still adding features.

Press to Impress

I've been neglecting the blog a bit trying to get FractalFic launched, but speaking of blogs, my friends at ClamBlog recently did an interview with me about the project. Check it out!

I should probably try to get a little more press than this.
